Santa Fe PD Seeks Wanted Man

The Santa Fe Police Department is asking the public for help in locating a man who is wanted. The man hasn’t been seen since the middle of 2022, according to officials. Toby Ortiz was reported missing on January 3 and last seen in June of last year in Santa Fe. Ortiz has an active arrest warrant for kidnapping and two misdemeanor warrants. Police said Ortiz is considered dangerous, and they don’t want anyone to try to approach him if he is seen. FULL STORY HERE .

APD "Warrant Roundup" Nets 93:Suspects

The Albuquerque Police Department has arrested 93 offenders on outstanding warrants during a three-day operation. On September 26-28, APD’s Field Services Bureau, along with the Investigative, Special Operations and Management Services and Support Bureaus teamed up with New Mexico State Police and the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Division to conduct a citywide warrant roundup. The teams specifically focused on offenders wanted for violent crime and property crimes. These individuals primarily had multiple felony warrants for Auto Theft, Burglary, and Robbery in an effort to reduce these criminal offenders victimizing the community.

Church Security Officer Murdered In Parking Lot

Daniel Bourne On September 23, 2022, around 10:00PM a Calvary Church security team member noticed a suspicious truck in their parking lot. The vehicle did start to leave the parking lot, but then for some reason the vehicle turned around and purposely ran over the security officer. The assailants kept running over his body until he died. The offenders then purposely dragged his body to a nearby ditch on the north side of the church campus in some sort of effort to conceal the body. The security guard had not checked back in for some time and his cell phone location had not changed. It raised concern for family and a lead security officer, which prompted the search. The lead security officer and another officer eventually located the other male security officer already deceased in the ditch with massive trauma.

Gun Owner Shot By ABQ Police

A trio of Albuquerque Police Department officers shot and killed a Black and Hispanic man who was lawfully keeping a gun in his car and was cooperative with them during what was supposed to be a welfare check at a gas station in August, according to a witness and an attorney for the man’s family. Keshawn Thomas had “always been respectful with police officers,” and by all accounts was a responsible gun owner. He had a concealed carry license, always carried his magazine for his gun in his trunk, and would keep the gun in the cab of his vehicle, said Taylor Smith, one of the attorneys representing his surviving family More here ...

Road Rage Shooting Suspect To Be Held Without Bail, Says Judge

  Joseph Gonzales, the brother of convicted murderer Fabian Gonzales, will remain behind bars until trial. The state asked the court to keep 44-year-old Gonzales locked up after Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies say he shot and killed Abner Antillon in the South Valley in August over an argument about speeding, reports KRQE TV. Prosecutors showed security camera footage that captured the killing of Antillon and Gonzales’s reaction. Antillon sped by in his truck and Gonzales yelled at him to slow down. Antillon then put the pickup in reverse, stopped, and the two began arguing.

Largest Fentanyl, Meth Bust In ABQ History

The ABQ Journal reports Federal search warrant returns unsealed Friday revealed the discovery of up to $4 million in bulk cash and what authorities said could be a record amount of fentanyl pills at one of 15 Albuquerque locations searched Thursday as part of an ongoing FBI investigation into a new evolving alliance among street and prison gangs in the state. The deadly pills, believed to be destined for distribution in New Mexico, totaled more than 1 million. About 142 pounds of methamphetamine was also recovered, along with two hand grenades, ballistic vests, a bulletproof baseball cap, 37 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

APD Arrests 16 Repeat Offenders During Organized Retail Crime Operation

The Albuquerque Police Department in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office working an organized retail crime operation arrested 16 repeat offenders for shoplifting. On August 24th and 25th, officers with Northeast and Northwest PRT were working with the Organized Crime Unit and the Attorney General’s Office on a shoplifting tact plan with two local big-box retailers. Man Accused Of Murdering Pizzeria Owner Has Long Criminal Record

Court records show Sylvan Alcachupas, the man accused of shooting and killing a pizzeria owner, has a long criminal record. He even had a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the murder and was on probation. So why was he on the streets in the first place? asks KQRE TV. Video shows arrest of Albuquerque bosque stabbing suspect Alcachupas was charged in August 2020 with armed robbery for robbing a Speedway in Valencia County. He was given a plea deal just this year to be on ‘supervised probation’ and given no jail time. 

APD Arrests Suspect In Salon Burglaries

APD has arrested Kellie Shugart, suspected of burglarizing dozens of nail and hair salons and spas. She's suspected of targeting boutique businesses that sell nail and hair supplies. She surrendered to police after burglarizing apartment in the area of Louisiana Blvd. and Montgomery Blvd.,, say police. Police also arrested Dylan Zisman in connection with the burglaries.  

Meth, Fentanyl Trafficker Busted By Feds Last Year Sentenced To 17 Years

Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, has announced that John Seibel was sentenced on Aug. 2 to 17 years and six months in prison. Seibel, 26, of Albuquerque, pleaded guilty on March 15 to two counts of distribution of 50 grams and more of a substance and mixture containing methamphetamine, four counts of distribution of 40 grams and more of fentanyl, two counts of distribution of 500 grams and more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine, and one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. In his plea, Seibel admitted to leading a drug trafficking organization that distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl. According to his plea agreement and other court records, on several occasions between April 1, 2021, and June 15, 2021, Seibel sold drugs to an undercover agent from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). APD IDs Man Who Shot Himself During Police Standoff

APD identified the man who fatally shot himself during a confrontation with police on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.   The man was identified as James Langlois (10/8/1957.) Preliminary autopsy results confirm that Langlois shot himself in the head. Officers responded to a call from a manager at Target, located at 11120 Lomas Blvd., N.E., Tuesday night about a suspicious person who was in a van that would not leave the parking lot. As officers approached the van, the man inside the van, later identified as Langlois, brandished a firearm. As officers retreated to their vehicles, they heard a gunshot. One officer shot at the van in response to the gunshot. Tactical officers later determined Langlois was deceased from what was confirmed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The autopsy confirmed that conclusion.

APD Releases Update On House Fire Death

APD released the following update today on the teen-age male who died during a house fire early Thursday while officers pursued a dangerous suspect in Southeast Albuquerque. The individual was identified as Brett Rosenau (3/24/2007). The preliminary results of an autopsy cited the cause of death as smoke inhalation and also confirmed that Rosenau was not shot by anyone, as some bystanders alleged at the scene. A full autopsy report with toxicology and CO2 results will be released later by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  

31-Yeat-,old hit cyclists, Driving Drunk

A woman was allegedly driving drunk and hit two cyclists — leaving one with “severe head trauma” — before fleeing the scene Saturday morning on the West Side, reported the Albuquerque Journal . Mollie Duran, 31, is charged with DWI-related great bodily harm by vehicle and leaving the scene of the accident.
