ABQ: Fatal Crash on Coors/Montano


APD’s Motor units were called to a fatal crash Tuesday involving a vehicle and a motorcycle south of the intersection of Coors Blvd. and Montano Rd., N.W.

The vehicle was making a left turn from southbound Coors to eastbound into the shopping center at 5600 Coors. The motorcycle was traveling northbound and collided with the passenger side of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. The driver of the vehicle was transported to UNM Hospital in critical condition. The motorcycle rider was deceased on scene. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The investigation is still on-going.

Court records show Sylvan Alcachupas, the man accused of shooting and killing a pizzeria owner, has a long criminal record. He even had a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the murder and was on probation. So why was he on the streets in the first place? asks KQRE TV. Video shows arrest of Albuquerque bosque stabbing suspect Alcachupas was charged in August 2020 with armed robbery for robbing a Speedway in Valencia County. He was given a plea deal just this year to be on ‘supervised probation’ and given no jail time.
